Alabama Ballet

LAH gave back to The Alabama Ballet. It is the state’s premiere professional ballet company. The company has achieved national prominence as one of only eight ballet companies in the world permitted by the Balanchine Trust to perform Balanchine’s Nutcracker®. The Alabama Ballet promotes the development of classical and contemporary ballet through high quality performances, dance education and community outreach. Education and outreach activities include CityDance, which provides 16 weeks of dance training for youth from the city of Birmingham and Jefferson County. To find out more, click here

 

 

Alabama Chained Dogs

As a company doing business in Birmingham, we feel an obligation to give back and to order to help and improve our community….to pay it forward. LAH gives back to Alabama chained dogs because life on a chain is no life at all.  Dogs are pack animals. Alabama Chained Dogs & Rescue is an all-volunteer effort to help families unchain their dogs by providing fencing or roomy kennels so that dogs are free to run and play. Funding for kennels, dog houses, and supplies, is always needed. Greater Birmingham Humane Society

A Team Ministries

LAH Real Estate is proud to help support A Team Ministries. Their ministry fills the gap that often exists for families that are receiving great medical care inside the walls of a hospital and the unique needs of oncology and hematology patients outside of those walls. Issues such as compromised immunity eliminate the ability to stay in communal living situations like a hotel. The extended length of treatment often creates great financial burdens on families who are required to remain in close proximity to the hospital. A Team Ministries was created to fill those gaps that present unique challenges to families facing pediatric cancer.

Farm Sanctuary

LAH real estate agent, Dionne Lovett, presented a donation to Farm Sanctuary.  Farm Sanctuary is an organization that helps end farm animal abuse through legislative and legal actions.

Alabama Chained Dogs & Rescue is an all-volunteer effort to help families unchain their dogs by providing fencing or roomy kennels so
that dogs are free to run and play. Alabama Chained Dogs helps to provide assistance with spay and neuter, dog houses, flea medicine,
food, and supplies. When a family can no longer care for their dog, we will advocate for the dog to find him a rescue or new home. To

Two By Two

Two by Two Animal Rescue is a 501 C (3) not-for-profit, no-kill organization. We began in 2002 when Sonya King began feeding strays in Old Town Helena. She noticed another concerned citizen had been leaving food for them too and placed a note in a bowl. The note was found. They met and combined their efforts to rescue the many stray dogs dodging traffic. Their work continues today on a grander scale, striving to save the lives of unwanted, abused, and abandoned animals. Two by Two’s goal is to care for these rescues until they find their forever homes, and educate the public about responsible pet care. Wish 2 Enrich

After several years of running a successful early childhood enrichment program called Soccer Shots in Birmingham, Alabama, Zach White founded Wish 2 Enrich. Zach learned that many young children who would benefit from his enrichment program were unable to participate due to various hardships. Zach and his team began to think of ways to offer scholarships to these children, based on recommendations from program providers, teachers, daycare directors, and school counselors. Wish 2 Enrich partners with pre-schools, daycares, Mother’s Day Out, after-school programs, and other organizations to ensure that children with hardships have the opportunity to be involved in any enrichment activity they desire. Open Hands Overflowing Hearts

From the very beginning of Kayla’s childhood cancer journey, it was evident that funding for pediatric cancer research is severely lacking. Immediately it became Kayla’s passion to change that. Open Hands Overflowing Hearts was founded by Kayla in 2014 in an effort to raise awareness of this horrific disease that affects so many children and families and more importantly to raise funds so that one day there will be a end to childhood cancer. Kayla will do anything to end childhood cancer. She is pursuing her dreams by attending Auburn University this year and taking on the task of raising awareness and funding, all while continuing to fight Neuroblastoma. ASPCI

ASPCI is a non-profit animal welfare organization that has no geographical borders when it comes to saving the lives of dogs and cats in certain situations. To donate or read more about how you can help ASPCI, They receive no government funding and are dependent on donations of caring people, grants from foundations, fundraising events and adoption fees for funding.  ASPCI currently manages five (5) animal welfare programs.  These programs are only doable by working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians and other supporters in the community.  The programs are foster care for dogs, pet adoption events, animal rescue, a managed admission program and SNAP. Camp Winnataska

Located 30 miles from Birmingham, AL, Camp Winnataska has been open since 1918. The camp’s mission is to:
further the physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental welfare of children and adults; promote love for nature and the benefits of outdoor living; encourage individual skills through personal and group effort; instill values, responsibility, sportsmanship, and citizenship; develop character; provide campers meaningful experiences that help them excel as they grow.

Kellypalooza:

The 4th annual Kellypalooza Festival at the Williams Farm in Ohatchee, Alabama will feature music from Willie Sugarcapps, Banditos, Locust Fork Band, Allen Thompson Page, Lamont Landers Band, and Furious George! Gates open at 11 am. Music starts at 12:30. Camping is encouraged and coolers are welcome!

ATeam Ministries:

Today at the LAH Homewood office, Billy Wade and Coke Williams presented a check to Andy and Jan Thrower of the ATeam Ministries. Maurice Humphries, President of LAH Real Estate, began a program in which he asked the LAH associates including staff, agents, owners and brokers what charities they wanted the company to help support. Currently we support 40 charities and we feel honored to give back to our communities.

On January 6, 2009, Andy and Jan Thrower were thrown into the formidable world of childhood cancer as their 16-month-old son, Anderson, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, ALL. During Anderson’s taxing treatments of monthly chemo injections, weekly lab work, and daily oral treatments, the Throwers’ eyes were opened to the deep needs of families who found themselves living in the same life-altering world of pediatric oncology or hematology-related diseases. Inspired by their first-hand experiences, the Throwers sought a way to minister to these deserving families.
