Rachel and Jim Lawrence. In 2017, Rachel changed everything about herself; her name, her phone number, her city, and her profession. She met her husband John in Tuscaloosa while he was getting his Master’s in Business Administration and they decided to get married, move to Birmingham, and buy their first home. She had spent eleven years in Tuscaloosa obtaining her BS and master’s from the University of Alabama and worked for ACRE, the Alabama Center of Real Estate. She was headed for a career in Marketing after getting her master’s but Jim Lawrence of ACRE and LAH Real Estate had different ideas.
After working together on the small team at ACRE for 5 years, Jim knew that Rachel had potential in sales and wanted her to consider working at his former company, LAH. She met with Austin Blair, Broker of LAH Commercial, and her marketing plans quickly changed to a career in Commercial Real Estate. A predominantly male industry, Rachel has proven that size doesn’t matter! She is petite, mighty, and proven herself to be a force to be reckoned with in the Commercial Real Estate community. She is great at working with people, educating her clients about the process, and carrying the transaction over the finish line. Her favorite part of the process is researching comparable, providing demographic information and evaluating multi-use options for commercial properties.
In 2019, Rachel and John became parents to John Tyler. He is the light of their lives. While they have enjoyed the past five months at home together during COVID19, she says they are all looking forward to getting back to their family routine, Rachel and John back to their offices and John Tyler back in day care. These days, John Tyler and Rachel are inseparable; most of her day is spent caring for and entertaining John Tyler while cramming her work into two nap times!
Rachel loves to cook. She cooks every night and has experimented with three different recipes for pound cake recently in her search to find the best one. She loves reading and is a huge fan of Wheel of Fortune. She watches and records it every night. “I’m good at it” she says. She told John that she could pad their retirement if she could just have a chance and get on the show. She even named her Labradoodle Savannah after Vanna White, the long-time host of the show. Her Mom told her she couldn’t call her dog Vanna White, so she settled on Savannah. Tess, a German Shorthair Pointer, is John’s rescue dog that he found at the Montgomery Humane Society. They love spending time outside with the dogs and John Tyler. They frequently can be found on the field at Brookwood Forest Elementary.
Rachel was the President of BhamCrew, Birmingham Commercial Real Estate Women in 2019, and organized LAH’s mission to feed our local healthcare workers in March of 2020. She loves paying it forward and is always looking for ways to help others.
Rachel, John, John Tyler, Vanna White, and Tess; one big happy family. Their family is part of our family. We are so grateful to have Rachel Nichols in our LAH Commercial Real Estate group.
We love Rachel Nichols!
